Sock Puppet

When mom and dad came to visit today - I noticed that dad had 2 holes in his one sock. I couldn't resist drawing a face on the bottom!

WARNING: If you enter the house with holes in your socks - they may leave a bit more decorated!

Ok - it was more than a box of yarn that prompted the rummage sale......

Over the last couple months - some major changes began happening in the house. It all started when I wanted to purchase 2 new sofas. Then the new sofas prompted the purchase of 2 matching ottomans, 3 end tables, 2 lamps, 2 area rugs, a love seat and new flooring in four rooms. The living room is now about 85% complete - still waiting on 2 tables, 2 ottomans and a custom piece of redware pottery ordered from: http://www.wisconsinpottery.com/.

So really the rummage sale was to sell 3 sofas, 2 leather recliners and 3 rocking chairs, along with a load of unused stuff that at one time we really needed - which we did - so mission accomplished! The box of yarn was the straw that broke the camels back. We were going to wait until spring, when Jim was retired to take on the sale. Did we make enough money at the sale to purchase all of the new things? NOT EVEN CLOSE!

The time in the studio has been minimal to say the least - between running from city to city to find the furniture (Pine River is near nothing) and Dizzy busy twisting balloons, the weaving has come to a stand still. Although 3 new Louet looms should be arriving here in the next 2 weeks or so, which will give us a reason to work out there!

All because of a box of yarn ...

Jim: walks into the studio and says: what's with this box of yarn?
Me: I'm going to give it away - but have no idea how to do this unless someone comes to the studio to pick it up. It makes no sense to have someone pay for shipping of a heavy box - for free yarn - does it?
A few days pass.... the box in the studio begins to bug me.

Me: Jim, can you set up a few tables and some hooks in the ceiling - in the 2 car garage?
Jim: Why?
Me: I'm going to have a rummage sale - and put out my box of yarn for free.
Jim: Seems like a lot of work - just to give a box of yarn away?
And so - for the past 4 days we have been purging through everything in the house - pretending we moving and don't want to carry any heavy boxes with us! We just keep walking around and finding more - this is only the beginning - more furniture, dishes, and general crap that we have acquired over the years are waiting to be placed on the tables.

Did I happen to mention how hot and horribly humid it is outside? Dang!

Hit and Miss weaving sessions this summer

With only brief weaving sessions this summer - not much is happening with the warp on the Delta. Three waffle weave towels were woven and already given away from the first tie up .

Pattern: Waffle Family Dishtowels
Book: Fabrics that go Bump. This is tie up #2 - Ribbed Squares.

Weaving in progress.
